ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the uneven transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19) and its mitigation efforts in Bangladesh through investigating the spatio-temporal and gender dimensions of this pandemic. By analysing data collected from various secondary sources, the study has revealed that the virus initially spread rapidly in Dhaka, the capital city, and its surrounding districts but later reached remote parts of the country. Among many factors, population density, distance from the epicentre, and discriminatory gender norms and practices remain crucial in determining the rates of infections, deaths, and vaccine accessibility among people. The analysis also sheds some light on the COVID-19 situation in Bangladesh with the scenario of other South Asian countries.
